    Analyse de la production sur la question des femmes dans les centres universitaires de criminologie au Canada de 1964 Ă  1989

    En 1990, la criminologie universitaire au Canada avait 25 ans. On comptait sept centres universitaires d’enseignement ou de recherche en criminologie au pays et ceux-ci regroupaient 125 professeurs/chercheurs. Chacun d’eux a Ă©tĂ© priĂ© de rĂ©pondre Ă  un questionnaire l’invitant Ă  signaler ses Ă©crits scientifiques touchant la question des femmes. La collecte de donnĂ©es a Ă©tĂ© prĂ©parĂ©e et complĂ©tĂ©e Ă  l’aide des rapports annuels de chacun de ces centres et par des visites sur les lieux. Deux cent six (206) oeuvres ont Ă©tĂ© recensĂ©es pour la pĂ©riode allant de 1964 Ă  1989. Elles ont Ă©tĂ© analysĂ©es en regard des caractĂ©ristiques des auteurs (universitĂ© d’appartenance, nombre d’annĂ©es dans la carriĂšre, statut d’emploi, sexe, langue, place de la production sur la question des femmes dans l’ensemble de la production) et dans leur contenu sous les variables suivantes: objet de l’oeuvre et problĂšmes abordĂ©s, populations Ă©tudiĂ©es, perspectives thĂ©oriques et mĂ©thodologiques utilisĂ©es. Les «producteurs majeurs» ont Ă©tĂ© identifiĂ©s et des entrevues rĂ©alisĂ©es avec chacun d’eux.     Typed lambda-terms in categorical attributed graph transformation

    This paper deals with model transformation based on attributed graph rewriting. Our contribution investigates a single pushout approach for applying the rewrite rules. The computation of graph attributes is obtained through the use of typed lambda-calculus with inductive types. In this paper we present solutions to cope with single pushout construction for the graph structure and the computations functions. As this rewrite system uses inductive types, the expressiveness of attribute computations is facilitated and appears more efficient than the one based on Sigma-algebras. Some examples showing the interest of our computation approach are described in this paper

    Upstream-binding factor is sequestered into herpes simplex virus type 1 replication compartments

    Previous reports have shown that adenovirus recruits nucleolar protein upstream-binding factor (UBF) into adenovirus DNA replication centres. Here, we report that despite having a different mode of viral DNA replication, herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) also recruits UBF into viral DNA replication centres. Moreover, as with adenovirus, enhanced green fluorescent protein-tagged fusion proteins of UBF inhibit viral DNA replication. We propose that UBF is recruited to the replication compartments to aid replication of HSV-1 DNA. In addition, this is a further example of the role of nucleolar components in viral life cycle

    NOF1 Encodes an Arabidopsis Protein Involved in the Control of rRNA Expression

    The control of ribosomal RNA biogenesis is essential for the regulation of protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells. Here, we report the characterization of NOF1 that encodes a putative nucleolar protein involved in the control of rRNA expression in Arabidopsis. The gene has been isolated by T-DNA tagging and its function verified by the characterization of a second allele and genetic complementation of the mutants. The nof1 mutants are affected in female gametogenesis and embryo development. This result is consistent with the detection of NOF1 mRNA in all tissues throughout plant life's cycle, and preferentially in differentiating cells. Interestingly, the closely related proteins from zebra fish and yeast are also necessary for cell division and differentiation. We showed that the nof1-1 mutant displays higher rRNA expression and hypomethylation of rRNA promoter. Taken together, the results presented here demonstrated that NOF1 is an Arabidopsis gene involved in the control of rRNA expression, and suggested that it encodes a putative nucleolar protein, the function of which may be conserved in eukaryotes

    Critical Assessment of Metagenome Interpretation:A benchmark of metagenomics software

    International audienceIn metagenome analysis, computational methods for assembly, taxonomic profilingand binning are key components facilitating downstream biological datainterpretation. However, a lack of consensus about benchmarking datasets andevaluation metrics complicates proper performance assessment. The CriticalAssessment of Metagenome Interpretation (CAMI) challenge has engaged the globaldeveloper community to benchmark their programs on datasets of unprecedentedcomplexity and realism. Benchmark metagenomes were generated from newlysequenced ~700 microorganisms and ~600 novel viruses and plasmids, includinggenomes with varying degrees of relatedness to each other and to publicly availableones and representing common experimental setups. Across all datasets, assemblyand genome binning programs performed well for species represented by individualgenomes, while performance was substantially affected by the presence of relatedstrains. Taxonomic profiling and binning programs were proficient at high taxonomicranks, with a notable performance decrease below the family level. Parametersettings substantially impacted performances, underscoring the importance ofprogram reproducibility. While highlighting current challenges in computationalmetagenomics, the CAMI results provide a roadmap for software selection to answerspecific research questions

    Search for dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks in √s = 13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

    A search for weakly interacting massive particle dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks is presented. Final states containing third-generation quarks and miss- ing transverse momentum are considered. The analysis uses 36.1 fb−1 of proton–proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment at √s = 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016. No significant excess of events above the estimated backgrounds is observed. The results are in- terpreted in the framework of simplified models of spin-0 dark-matter mediators. For colour- neutral spin-0 mediators produced in association with top quarks and decaying into a pair of dark-matter particles, mediator masses below 50 GeV are excluded assuming a dark-matter candidate mass of 1 GeV and unitary couplings. For scalar and pseudoscalar mediators produced in association with bottom quarks, the search sets limits on the production cross- section of 300 times the predicted rate for mediators with masses between 10 and 50 GeV and assuming a dark-matter mass of 1 GeV and unitary coupling. Constraints on colour- charged scalar simplified models are also presented. Assuming a dark-matter particle mass of 35 GeV, mediator particles with mass below 1.1 TeV are excluded for couplings yielding a dark-matter relic density consistent with measurements
